Unresolved trauma stays in the body, oftentimes unnoticed as we go about our daily lives. But subconsciously our body knows it is there, and even tells us with things like cravings, anxiety, and health issues.
Body Scan
Set a timer for a minute.
Very slowly, so slowly it feels unnatural, begin following your pen on the paper (don’t lift it) as you query “what emotions are coming up for me today?”
With another colour draw a body figure over your drawing.
Take some deep breaths and scan your body.
Mark any sensations on the corresponding part of your body picture.
Write what you are noticing. Where did you feel it in the body?
How do you react when these sensations show up?
